The first question here, too, is price. In Hungary in 2026 a basic SEO audit costs HUF 50–150 thousand, a comprehensive expert audit HUF 150–500 thousand, a one-off technical and on-page optimization HUF 150–400 thousand, and monthly SEO for an SME HUF 80–500 thousand per month. GEO, visibility in AI answers, has almost no public price in Hungary yet; international agencies charge $5,000–50,000 per project or retainers from $1,500 per month. Our own SEO and GEO optimization package is a one-off project from HUF 890,000 + VAT.

The numbers come from public price lists and pricing guides; every band is linked at its source, and the price lists were retrieved on 20 September 2026. All amounts are net of VAT. This article was prepared by Leventech Solutions Kft., which itself offers SEO and GEO optimization; it is commercial communication.

SEO audit. A basic technical audit costs HUF 50–150 thousand (OS.labs, DFN Webdesign). A comprehensive, hand-made expert audit costs HUF 150–500 thousand; aMarketingese puts a technical audit at HUF 200–500 thousand (aMarketingese). The sources treat the software-generated PDF report around HUF 40 thousand as a separate category; on Prime SEO's price list an audit starts at HUF 40 thousand (Prime SEO).

One-off optimization. Fixing the technical and on-page defects once costs HUF 150–400 thousand according to DFN Webdesign's market summary. This is the step after the audit: titles, descriptions, headings, internal links, speed, indexing.

Monthly retainer. SME retainers run HUF 80–500 thousand a month: DFN says 80–450 thousand, Qjob 70–500 thousand, Prime SEO HUF 150–500 thousand for a mid-sized company (Qjob). For a webshop with 200–300 products the typical monthly package is HUF 200–400 thousand, and the upper band of webshop SEO is HUF 800 thousand per month. Entry packages start around HUF 50–80 thousand (Kulman), the cheapest offer at HUF 29 thousand per month (Fjood).

Hourly rate. SEO consulting costs HUF 10–50 thousand per hour; most offers sit between HUF 15–40 thousand.

How much does SEO cost in the region?

In the Czech market a one-off audit costs CZK 8,000–50,000, the monthly fee for smaller sites CZK 6,000–18,000, a webshop's monthly fee starts at CZK 15,000 and exceeds CZK 35,000 for larger catalogs (Apadore). In Poland an audit costs $3,000–3,750 and the specialist hourly rate $50–99; the average Clutch hourly rate is $62 in Poland, $69 in the Czech Republic and $57 in Hungary (Szymon Słowik). Hungarian prices sit in the lower-middle band of the region.

How much does GEO cost?

GEO (generative engine optimization) measures and improves whether the company appears as a source in the answers of ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Overviews and Perplexity. Public Hungarian price lists barely exist: one domestic pricing guide puts the AI-visibility audit of a smaller site at a few hundred thousand forints, with no exact figure (Online Marketing 101).

International prices are known. GEO agencies charge small businesses $1,500–5,000 per month, mid-sized businesses $5,000–25,000 and enterprises $25,000–50,000; project-based work costs $5,000–50,000 and the hourly rate $50–300 (WebFX, TeamAI). RevvGrowth's pricing guide lists retainers of $3,000–25,000 per month (RevvGrowth). These prices include continuous content production and prompt tracking, which is why they are monthly.

The package's seven steps, acceptance criteria and price on one page. SEO and GEO Optimization

What is in a one-off SEO and GEO package?

Our SEO and GEO optimization package has seven steps and starts from HUF 890,000 + VAT:

  1. Audit and baseline: indexing, speed, multilingual setup, structured data, AI-crawler access, and what the AI assistants answer today about the product categories.
  2. Technical SEO fixes on the live site, with an acceptance criterion: Search Console shows no critical issue.
  3. Structured data for the company, the shop, every product and the knowledge base, passing the Google Rich Results test with no errors.
  4. On-page optimization: titles, descriptions, headings, internal links, alt text, in two languages where needed.
  5. AI visibility: AI-crawler access, a machine-readable company summary, the FAQ and knowledge base restructured into citable form.
  6. Brand entity off the site: consistent company data in the Google Business Profile, the directories and the profiles, with a checklist.
  7. Verification, a 30-day re-measurement, a maintenance guide for the developer.

The package covers up to two languages and two domains; new articles, advertising, link building and monthly monitoring are separate items.

One-off project or monthly retainer?

The technical and content foundation of an SME website or webshop has to be put in order once. That is a one-off project, and by the sum of the Hungarian bands above it falls between HUF 200–900 thousand, depending on whether the audit, the optimization and the structured data are done together or separately. A retainer is justified when continuous content production and link building are also needed, or when positions have to be held on competitive national keywords.

The two models add up: a one-off foundation, then monthly work decided on the 30-day measurement. We work the same way on AI projects: our AI consulting for SMEs page starts with an assessment, and the article How Much Does AI Adoption Cost in 2026? gives its prices in bands the same way.

What to check when asking for a quote

  • Ask what the one-off fee includes item by item, and what the acceptance criterion is. "Optimization" on its own is not an item.
  • Ask for the quote to examine the served page. Google and the AI crawlers see what the server delivers.
  • Check whether there is a baseline and a re-measurement. Without measurement the result cannot be compared.
  • Two languages or two domains are double the work; the quote has to say so.
  • AI visibility is a separate item: if the quote mentions neither AI-crawler access nor structured data, the GEO part is missing.
